A Story of Friendship and a Fresh Home

Last week I had the privilege of helping a dear friend with a clean and declutter. She lives in a small, modest home here in Hamilton, full of love and the busyness of family life.

The very first thing I did when I arrived was congratulate her. Not on having a "perfect" home—but on creating such a warm, welcoming space for her family.

So often we put pressure on ourselves to have things looking spotless, as if that's the standard we're meant to meet. But no home needs to be perfect.

Homes are meant to be lived in, and they tell the story of our lives. Still, when clutter builds up, it can start to feel overwhelming. That's when a little support can make the world of difference.

Starting Small

When I asked my friend where she wanted to start, she admitted she didn't even know. That's such a common feeling. When your home feels out of control, it's hard to know where to begin.

So I gently asked, "What's bothering you the most right now?"

Her answer was immediate: the kitchen bench. It had become the catch-all for everything—school notices, drink bottles, toys, and unopened mail. Every time she walked in, it gave her a wave of stress.

So that's where we began.

The Power of Small Wins

We celebrated every little victory—a cleared coffee table, a freshly made bed, a tidy entrance. With music playing and a checklist to keep us focused!

How We Can Help

That day reminded me why I started Collective Home Clean. We're all time-deprived, juggling work, family, and the demands of everyday life.

If you've been putting off that big clean, dreading the pre-move sort-out, or just wishing for more breathing room in your home, we'd love to help.
